Earlier this month, the Association of Yale Alumni presented the Yale Club of Washington, D.C., with its 2014 Yale Award of Excellence for the Club’s design and implementation of a Yale professor-led, 4 night, 3 day educational trip to Gettysburg in June for 55 Yale alums from all over the U.S. Miller, Miller & Canby’s Ed West, the current President of the Club, and Paley Rothman’s Roy Niedermayer, the program’s creator, who accepted the award on the behalf of their Club, tell us that the Club’s innovative idea established a scalable model for other Yale Clubs – – each of which depend on independent fundraising sources for their community programs – to follow suit. The 140 year old Yale Club of Washington, D.C. has a longstanding mission to fund summer fellowships for current Yale undergrads working at D.C.-area non-profits, to provide community service opportunities in the D.C. area, and to award scholarship stipends for deserving D.C. public high school students.
Ed West joined Miller, Miller & Canby in 2014 as Principal in the Real Estate Practice Group. An accomplished real estate attorney with significant regional and national transactional expertise, Mr. West has practiced for more than 30 years in the areas of commercial leasing, real estate development, finance, and construction. He has also worked with a wide variety of regional clients in the development, acquisition or sale of more than $5 billion in commercial properties, including mixed-use developments and public-private partnerships. Mr. West has represented lenders, borrowers, and investors in $17.4 billion of financings, equity investments, workouts and foreclosures.
