Overview

Robert E. Gough is a principal of the firm and chairs the firm’s Real Estate Practice group, focusing his practice in the areas of commercial real estate transactions and leasing, land development, commercial and residential closings, and related litigation.

With more than three decades of legal experience, he represents a variety of developers, institutions and individuals in the acquisition and disposition of real property, ranging from complex commercial real estate development transactions, to advising clients with existing real estate holdings on development and ownership options, to assisting individuals purchasing residential property or in transferring ownership for estate planning purposes.

Robert works closely with the firm’s land use attorneys on client development and redevelopment projects and the firm’s business and estate planning attorneys in counseling clients on ownership and succession planning options. He represents commercial, retail and industrial property owners in their leasing transactions and tenant disputes, as well as representing tenants in similar leasing matters. The firm is an agent for a national title insurance company and Robert conducts closings on commercial and residential purchases and loan transactions and advises clients in negotiating commercial loans and loan documentation.

Prior to joining Miller, Miller & Canby, Robert was an associate with Heise Jorgensen & Stefanelli, P.A. where he practiced in the areas of real estate law, banking law and general litigation. During this period, Robert served as Outside General Counsel to Citizens Savings Bank, F.S.B. from 1994 through 1997. His litigation experience includes matters in both State and Federal courts ranging from business and contract disputes, easement and adverse possession claims, landlord-tenant matters, banking law, construction law, mechanic liens, and constitutional law.
